GEAUX TIGERS, GEAUX SAINTS!!!!

No new cookies today, just bringing back some from the past in order to give a 'shout out' to the home teams.  The LSU Tigers are playing in the Cotton Bowl tonight, taking on Texas A&M.   GEAUX (GO, for those not familiar with the Cajun interpretation of the verb go) TIGERS!!!

Secondly, our beloved home team, the New Orleans Saints, are traveling up to Seattle to take on the Seahawks in an NFC Wildcard game tomorrow afternoon.  Hey, Reggie, if 'ya listnin'.....'Ya need to step it up BIG TIME tomorrow, dude!  What with the 2 leading rushers out for the remainder of the playoffs, Pierre Thomas and Chris Ivory, it's gonna be on your shoulders!  Show us some of those moves 'ya had at USC!!  Bring it on!!"

In reference to the recent unexplained findings of massive numbers of dead birds, I saw this explanation posted on facebook.  No doubt, it came from a Who Dat fan!!

Figured out the dying bird thing... God is a Saints fan and he is telling us that birds are going down... Seahawks, Falcons, Eagles, Ravens... in that order... mark it... WHO DAT!!!!!!!!

I guess that says it all!
 GEAUX SAINTS!!

Patriots, Fleur de lis, and More Halloween

It's been waaay tooo long since I last posted some pictures, so here's a bunch!

No, I haven't changed loyalties to the home team!  These were obviously for a New England Patriots fan.  I still have memories of that game last season, Monday night, November 30, Saints 38 Patriots 17!!!  That was a GAME - if you were a Saints fan, that is!!

These were done for an event designer,  Sandra Downie of Sandra Downie Event DesignsShe  specializes in Couture Dessert Tables. www.sandradownie.com ; www.thewhitelibrary.com.  She was designing her Rustic French Country Thanksgiving table and needed some fleur de lis cookie pops.  This is the design she requested.   You need to check out her site and her blog!!  The pictures of weddings she's done are UNBELIEVABLE!   She did a feature post about me on her blog.  Here is the link to the post about my cookies:  http://www.blushandvine.com/desserts-and-sweets/fridays-fab-find-rollin-in-dough-cookie-gifts/:
Looking forward to seeing the complete table set up with MY COOKIES!!!

This was a birthday bouquet ordered for a dear friend by her daughter.  Her mom likes shopping and girly things.  Hope your birthday was a great one, Karen!

My daughter was invited to a Halloween birthday party for one of her friends.  As the hostess told me, "The party took on a life of it's own!"  What was intended to be a Halloween themed bday party, evolved into a Halloween EVENT!  Complete with haunted elevator, haunted hay ride, haunted skits, etc.  She said people were calling her to volunteer themselves for the haunting.  She had 16 ADULTS helping her out.  They even told her what they plan to do next year!  Now, who was the party for again........????
Anyway, she asked me to make some 'thank you' cookies for the adult partygoers, ahem...volunteers.
She also had some contests for the kids, and as a prize, they received a big pumpkin cookie!

An assortment of Halloween themed cookies that got made over and over several times this Halloween.  That week had me making close to 300 cookies!!  Not all Halloween, but the majority was.

Saints Cookies

At long last, the latest edition of New Orleans Saints cookies has arrived!!! This is my version for the upcoming football season.  I was inspired to make the LA shaped cookie with "Believe Dat" by a sticker I saw while Googling one day after the Superbowl win.  Saved it, and thought I might use it one day...... that day has arrived.

It pays tribute to the long suffering fans of the "Who Dat Nation" who have endured untold misery for far too long.  It took one special coach, who learned very quickly the incredible bond between his team and the city of New Orleans and the surrounding gulf coast area, to bring in one special quarterback, who, like the city of New Orleans and the gulf coast region, had to find untold strength from deep within, to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds, to comeback from despair, destruction, and defeat, who together, understood the magnitude of the task the two of them had before them.  It didn't take long for Sean Peyton and Drew Brees to realize that they were not here for the sole purpose of resurrecting a woeful excuse of an NFL franchise.  No, they realized early on that they were being called to rebuild more than just a football team. The coach, his quarterback, and the whole New Orleans Saints team and organization, took the city, the region, its fans, and everyone affected by Hurricane Katrina upon their shoulders, and carried them along as they all rebuilt, together, to come back stronger, more determined, and more confident in their ability to overcome adversity.

This year's edition of Saints cookies is dedicated to the Who Dat Nation, who've had to endure for sooooo long a miserable football team, and a crippling blow from a storm named Katrina.  It finally happened .... SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONS!!!!
To those who said it would never happen.....BELIEVE DAT!!!!!!!!
