Michelle & Mark's Wedding

My niece is getting married on New Year's Eve in Scottsdale, Arizona. We will be unable to attend, but I made an assortment of wedding cookies for her and her new hubby,..... which will be delivered to her by my mother-in-law.
Her color theme is blue and pewter, so I used that color combo for her cookies. The pewter in this picture, however, sort of looks green.
This was the first set of wedding cookies that I have made. I enjoyed making them. I hope Michelle and Mark enjoy eating them!

My mom asked my to make a bouquet for her little neighbor who turned 8 today. No theme really here, I just had these already cut out and baked so I just used them and incorporated her favorite color...purple. I'm not so sure the stenciled cookies fits in, but I stuck it in anyway! Maggie had a grin ear to ear when my mom presented her with the bouquet! I don't think it was in her possession more than 5 minutes when she and her sister tore into the cookies!!!! Funny how kids aren't afraid to dive into decorated cookies...whereas adults always say, "They're too pretty to eat!"

First Stenciled Cookie

This was my first try at using a stencil. It came out O.K. I did learn that I need to make the icing much stiffer next time to avoid loosing the detail in the design.

Baby Shower Bouquet

These were part of a bouquet for the mom-to-be who was having the sweet pea themed shower. Because she is having a boy, blue was requested. I was in a rush to get this one done and wasn't able to take a picture of the finished product. It also included 2 baby feet and a baby bottle. I got the inspiration for this cookie from a design by Mad About Cookies.

Birthday Bouquet from The Girls

A daughter ordered this birthday bouquet for her dad. She specified 3 daughters, 1 wife, a ford truck, a harley, and a turkey, I threw in the pumpkin to complete the sentiment.

Happy Birthday Dee!

Today, November 16, my grandmother celebrated her 90th birthday!! She had been a seamstress all of her life. She just recently retired a little less than 2 YEARS ago!!!!! She's incredible!! She was still working doing alterations for a bridal boutique when she was 88!!!!! Taught me everything I know today about sewing. She was my inspiration and influenced me tremendously when I was young to learn the art of sewing. She is still an inspiration today.....working well into her late 80's....definitely does not look 90!!!!....and enjoying her golden years among peers in a quaint retirement home. I made these in tribute to her.
Happy Birthday Dee!!!!!!!

Alice in Wonderland Cookie Challenge

This was my entry for "4 the Love of Cake" Alice in Wonderland Cookie Challenge. It was held on flickr, which is a photosharing stream. There are hundreds of different "groups" on a multitude of topics, and this is but one of them. It was my first attempt at a cookie challenge, and it did not turn out exactly as I had wanted. I was rushed to finish it on time. I posted my finished cookie with only 7 minutes to spare before the deadline! Believe it or not, it came out First! I was shocked! The voting was done by the members who belong to the group "4 the Love of Cake". Thanks to all who voted for my cookie.

After this picture was taken he decided he needed to do more decorating and added big globs of black icing right on top!
The colors he chose....green like "Percy", orange like "Rusty", and yellow like "Duncan".....in reference to Thomas the Tank Engine characters. All colors and numbers revolve around his Thomas friends!
He was so proud of himself!!!

The bee on the sunflower was done to cover up a large indentation that appeared the next morning after I decorated it! No one knows how it got there! I think the bee covered it up quite nicely!

Longing for the cool, crisp, refreshing air of fall inspired me to do this bouquet for my mom's birthday which she celebrates exactly one week after my dad. She enjoys feeding her birds and providing them shelter, so I threw in the birdhouse to the mix. This was the first time I tried a chocolate cookie dough and was quite pleased with the results. I also liked the dark cookies against the fall colors. It adds a richness to the cookies.

his " fishing camp" as we call them here in Louisiana. Most people not from here call them summer homes. He enjoys fishing, crabbing, trawling for shrimp and all things having to do with seafood in La! I did a replica of his boat , the "Double Dip, crab traps, cast nets, and seafood. I'm not really thrilled with the crabs....I wanted to try something other than red, but I'm not to pleased with the way they turned out.
That's him in the center, he's a huge LSU fan as are most people from Louisiana. Go Tigers!

I wanted to do something other than a "boiled" red crab, so I tried the greens and blues of the crab befor it gets "cooked". I'm not sure that I like the way it turned out. It was an experiment!
